It seems as if the rough global economic times are influencing current watch designs. Watch makers are going subdued and simple in the new watches out for this season and insiders say consumers are the driving force behind the move. Average people don’t want to spend overwhelming amounts on new wrist eye candy and most of the elite do not want to be seen as “showing off” there wealth to clients and customers.
So what’s in the mix for the new time pieces? Calls for a more simple style harkening back to the late eighteen hundreds and early twentieth century, are being answered by top designers, such as Krieger, and they are not hesitating to dig deep in their past catalogues for the inspiration. Skeleton plate watches- which allow you to see the inner mechanisms driving your piece- are becoming extremely popular, as are sporty plain bands that can be accessorized with casual or formal dress, making the style very practical. Stainless steel and other cheaper metals are rising stars again and while still looking the part of a classy watch, they are much cheaper to produce for the watch makers. All in all high end watches are going to still be pricey; they are just going to have a more down to earth look.
